Now that you have selected a door that will bring you more no matter the circumstance, protecting your investment is rather simple but may require you to be proactive with the team. Having a discussion with the General Contractor on the project as well as the garage door installer is critical. They will need to discuss with the sheetrock team and the electrical team as well as others, so this conversation should happen early.

Here are some key aspects to discuss with your team prior to installation of the garage door:

1. Is the flooring of the garage poured and levelled?
2. Are the dimensions for the opening confirmed?
3. Has the drywall for the garage been installed?
4. Has electricity been run if the doors need to be operable?

7. When are inspections scheduled? And what are they looking for regarding the garage door?

Our caution really boils down to this: We do not recommend installing the overhead doors early. They risk damage that may not be repairable. If there is no compelling urgency for safety, we suggest waiting until the end of the project to install the garage door.
